best moisturizers for dry skin

So I am writing this post just to help people like me, who have extremely dry skin. Also, the winter season has almost arrived and so has the dry skin season, so I thought it was about time to write something on the blog which would help my readers to get through the season without flaky and cracked dry skin. In this post, I am gonna list out the best moisturizers for dry skin or the best lotions for dry skin and also list some tips on how to cure dry skin at home.

Usually, the dry skin on face leaves the makeup that we apply, look very cakey and we have to deal with the white patches that appear even after applying foundation. Dry skin also tends to age faster than the other skin types. People with dry skin are more prone to get wrinkles sooner. There are endless problems related to dry skin- blemishes, fine lines, wrinkles, patchiness etc.

The best way to take care of this type of skin is to moisturize the skin, protect it from the sun because dry skin is mostly very sensitive and use natural remedies to keep the skin hydrated.

Best Moisturizers for Dry Skin:

  • Body Shop Body Butters
  • Body Shop Vitamin E Intense Moisture Cream
  • Nivea Soft Creme
  • Olay Regenerist Deep Hydration Regenerating Cream
  • Clinique Superdefense Daily Defense Moisturizer Broad Spectrum SPF 20
  • Lacto Calamine Lotion for Dry Skin
  • Palmer's Shea Formula Body Lotion
  • Bioderma Sensibio AR
  • La Roche-Posay Toleriane Soothing Protective Skincare Lotion
  • Cetaphil
  • Nivea Nourishing Body Milk (read review here)
Always make sure that the moisturizer you use has SPF in it because that's essential when you have dry skin.

Not only these, I personally feel that Himalayas, Loreal, Vaseline Body Lotion, Oriflame, Garnier and Lotus Herbals also have a good range of lotions and moisturizers for dry skin. The body shop body butters are the ones I am currently using and they work great for my dry skin.

Natural Remedies to Moisturize Dry Skin:

Some natural oils you can use to moisturize dry skin are:

  • Cocoa butter
  • Shea Butter
  • Jojoba oil
  • Almond oil
  • Avocado oil
  • Vitamin E oil
  • Extra virgin olive oil
  • Lavender oil
  • Argan oil
  • Coconut oil
  • Safflower oil
  • Tea tree oil

Some home remedies you can use to moisturize dry skin:

  • Mix 2 tbsp of olive oil, 4 tbsp of fine brown sugar and 1 tbsp of honey. Rub this homemade scrub on your face gently for a few minutes. Wash it off with cold water and then apply regular moisturizer after that.
  • Apply fresh yogurt on your face, neck, hands and legs. Leave it to dry for 10 minutes and then take a shower. After that apply regular moisturizer and lotion on your face and body. Doing this regularly helps you get rid of dry skin.
  • Apply coconut oil all over your body before going to bed and wash it off in the morning. The oil keeps your skin hydrated and doesn't let it dry throughout the day.
  • Mix a few drop of rose water in 4 tbsp of milk. Apply it all over your body and let it dry for a few minutes. Then take a shower (recommended: with cold water) and rinse it off. This leaves your skin soft, supple and hydrated.
  • Take 2 tbsp of yogurt and add 3 tbsp of gram flour. Mix these well to make a paste, apply the paste all over your face and let it dry for 15 to 20 minutes. Rinse it off with cold water for fresh and moisturized skin.
If any of these treatments for dry skin work for you, leave your feedback in the comments. Also tell me what moisturizer works for your dry skin so that I can give it a shot because when you have dry skin you really have a lot to worry about!

The lotions/ moisturizers mentioned above are some which I like and worked out to be the best moisturizers for dry skin, at least for me. Everyone has a different skin, so some of them might not work for you. But in either case, you have the home remedies for dry skin and those would mostly work for each one of you.

  1. I sometimes apply aloe vera (from the plant directly) to my face if I feel it extra dry.It has a pulling sensation but after I was my face I feel it so moisturizes and soft! The result is amazing! I love to use natural remedies for my face!
